Anita Mui

Description

I did a search on DA for Anita Mui and was chagrined to find NO ONE had submitted ANYthing (that I found) on this recently deceased Asian beauty. Sadly, and to the heartbreak of millions of devoted fans, Anita succumbed to cervical cancer December 30, 2003. Jackie Chan and Stephen Chow are just two of her friends, whose names might be familiar, by her bedside at the time of death. Anita has been called the Madonna of Asia because she is the queen of Cantopop (Anita, that is... not Madonna), but I disagree... you see, Anita actually had talent. She's been called the Greta Garbo of Asia, too. I'd prefer to think of her as the Anita Mui of Asia, myself, but if she /must/ be compared to someone American, then maybe Beverly Garland. Both beautiful women, both talented, and both who always brought to their female characters strength, dignity, courage and femininity.
Anita was amazing and you may have seen her in Rumble in the Bronx, Drunken Master 2, Miracles, Fight Back to School 3, Rouge, A Better Tomorrow 3, Shanghai, Shanghai and a slew of other Chinese films. She is/was among my most favorite actresses ever... and she will be missed.

The queen is dead! Long live the queen!

Pencil, paper, blending tortillion. Antiqued, text added and smoothed in PSP 6. Sorries for the dirty look of the picture, my scanner decided to pick up every line I drew and erased on the paper and every smudge my hand might have made. It's not this dirty in real life, I promise!

Little read on Anita:[link]
